Protest against bad condition of roads

Staff Reporter

BERHAMPUR: Activists of the Ganjam Zilla Vikash Manch on Saturday demonstrated at the Berhampur municipality campus protesting against dismal condition of some major city roads maintained by the municipality.

They demanded immediate repair and relaying of these roads as they were causing accidents. They held discussions with Executive Officer Bhim Manseth over the matter. The Executive Officer gave written promise to start repair of three major roads on a war-footing in a few days, said Suresh Sahu, convener of the organisation.

President of the Manch Siba Prasad Mishra alleged that despite repeated complaints municipal authorities were not repairing and relaying roads in time. Mr Sahu said most of the roads get damaged with massive pot-holes within two years. As per the Manch activists the five major municipal roads in the city having high traffic flow needed immediate repair or relaying.
