Domestic help found murdered
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A 23-year-old domestic help was found murdered under mysterious circumstances at her employer’s residence in Ashok Vihar here on Saturday.
The police have not ruled out the possibility of criminal assault on the victim.
The murder came to light in the morning when dentist G. K. Gupta went to the third floor of his house to check on the family’s domestic help, Jimmy, and found her body lying on the floor with blood oozing from her mouth. The police were called in.
Enquiries revealed that Jimmy, a native of Jharkhand, had been working at Dr. Gupta’s residence for the past 10 months. She was last seen when she served dinner to the Guptas on Friday evening, after which the family went out for a movie.
Circumstantial evidence suggested that the victim was criminally assaulted and strangled. “We are awaiting the post-mortem report,” said a police officer, adding that all possible angles were being investigated.
The Ashok Vihar police have registered a case of murder and detained two labourers working at a nearby construction site for questioning.
