Call to sell books of great Tamil authors
Special Correspondent
Peravai decides to conduct elocution and essay writing competitions for students
PUDUKOTTAI: The Silapathikara Aanmeega Peravai has appealed to the State Government to take steps to sell the books of the great Tamil authors that have been nationalised at subsidised price through the fair price shops all over the State.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at the council meeting of the Peravai held at Tirugokarnam here recently. Such a step will enable the common people to know the great works of the legendry writers.
To popularise the Tamil epic Silappathikaram, particularly among the younger generations, the Peravai decided to conduct elocution and essay writing competitions for school and college students on the topic ‘Silappathikaram Aanmeeka Kappaiyame’ in the month of August. It also decided to obtain model essays connected with Silappathikaram from school and college students and award the best entries.
The meeting was presided over by its convener Sowmya Narayanan Swamigal. The joint convener of the Peravai S. Palaniappan spoke.
