Daylight loot at bank

JAIPUR: In a daylight robbery, muggers stormed into the Murlipura branch of the State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur here on Saturday and decamped with Rs.14.61 lakh after locking up the bank employees and customers in three different rooms.

According to police sources, two young men carrying knives and an inflammable material entered the bank at 2-30 p.m. and threatened the cashier. They emptied an iron box containing the cash into their bags and locked up five employees and three customers in different rooms.

The robbers also tried to throw the combustible material on one of the bank employees. They sped away on a motorcycle after warning the terrified employees and customers.

The closed-circuit television camera installed in the bank was not working when the robbery took place.
