VISAKHAPATNAM: Students of Andhra University College of Engineering who are pursuing the double degree MS programmes in the Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH) are happy with the programme being conducted in the Swedish institute.

More than 20 students from AUCE joined the double degree MS programmes in software engineering and signal processing during the just concluded academic year. They had gone to BTH in Sweden early this year to do their second, third and fourth semesters after completing the first semester in AUCE.

Three of them, M. Vinod Babu, M. Kranthi Kumar and N. Sandeep Varma, who are doing MS (software) are here during vacation while B. Kranthi Krishna (software) and D. Vasudha and P. Raghavendra (both signal processing) will go to BTH shortly as there was some technical problem in visa.

“Every aspect in BTH is towards research and I am happy to be a student there”, said M. Vinod Babu who is doing MS (software engineering) at an inter-action meeting arranged at the college on Saturday.

Close interaction

AUCE students are having close interaction with professors and others which helped them to gain a lot of confidence. “We are also doing better than students from other Indian universities”, Mr. Vinod Babu said.

The programmes in BTH are practical-oriented and students deal with live projects. They are put on ongoing research projects and each student has to participate in the research and present a report to the faculty, said Mr Kranthi Kumar. There is a very good library facility and any textbook, technical papers prepared by all scientists and other material can be downloaded from the e-library.

The students thanked their faculty here who provided a lot of suggestions to them before leaving for Sweden, BTH international project coordinator Gurudutt Kumar Velpula for the guidance he is providing from finding good accommodation to preparing assignments.

Vice-Chancellor B. Satyanarayana appreciated the AUCE students for proving their worth in a foreign university.

Principal of AUCE Allam Appa Rao felt that more five-year programmes must be introduced as the college which already gained international acceptance would gain more fame. Since India is providing workforce for the world, there was need for more collaborative programmes, he said. Vice-Principal P.S.N. Raju, Advisor (international students affairs) M. Jagannadha Rao, double degree courses coordinators Prasada Babu and Rajarajeswari, Deans, HoDs of several departments and others were present.
