Sentenced to rigorous imprisonment

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Fast Track Court IV Judge R. Sudhakaran has sentenced Stephen of Harvipuram colony, Peroorkada, to six years of rigorous imprisonment in a case of distribution of counterfeit currency. The 54-year-old man has also been asked by the judge to pay a fine of Rs.3,000. He was held by Peroorkada police in 1996 from a lodge near Pattom with 350 fake notes of Rs.10 denomination. Additional Public Prosecutor Vellarada K. Santhosh Kumar and advocate Powdikonam S. Radhakrishnan appeared for the prosecution.
