No consensus at discussion on stray dog menace
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: A discussion on the stray dog menace between the BBMP and NGOs on Saturday failed to arrive at a consensus on steps to be taken to tackle it.
After listening to the suggestions from animal rights activists and public, BBMP Deputy Commissioner U.A.Vasanth Rao said the authority was in a dilemma as it had to consider the suggestions of both sides — of the animal rights and those wanting the stray dogs to be eliminated — before formulating a policy.
“We do not know what stand we have to take in this regard,” Mr. Rao said, while making it clear that the BBMP was planning different approach — keeping the city clean — to stop migration of stray dogs from the outskirts.
Some people even suggested that the BBMP create “dog parks” for stray dogs instead of allowing them to move freely on roads.
