Young people voice their ideals

BANGALORE: The city-level winners of Tata Building India Competition seem to have many ideas to make India the most-developed country.

At a function held at Bishop Cotton Girls’ High School on Friday, the winners not only received prizes from Lokayukta N. Santosh Hegde, but also shared their vision for the country.

Jaya Vaishnavi Lal of Bishop Cotton Girls’ High School and winner in the junior category said that her dream was to see a corruption-free India. Amulya Cheru Kumudi of Delhi Public School, who was the winner in the senior category, said that corruption was the bane of the country and it has deep roots.

N. Ajay Srinivasan of St. John’s High School was the winner in the middle category. His dream was to enable the poor walk hand in hand with the rest of society. Vidhya Kiran of Cathedral School (junior category), Chaitra Srinivas of Chinmaya Vidyalaya (middle category) and Mohit. M. B., of Ryan International School (senior) were the runners up in the competition.

Mr. Hegde told the children to develop an attitude of satisfaction. “Please do not have greed for more than what you need,” he said.
