Balachandra Jarkiholi has betrayed Janata Dal (S) and people, says Pujari Belgaum: The former Social Welfare Minister and Arabhavi MLA Balachandra L. Jarkiholi’s resignation in just one-and-a-half months after the election to the State Assembly has come as a shock to the district unit of the Janata Dal (Secular). Reacting to this on Saturday, district unit president Ashok Pujari described the happening as “most unfortunate” and “murder of democracy”. FaithHe told The Hindu that the party leadership had faith in him and made him a Minister when the Janata Dal (Secular) and Bharatiya Janata Party formed Government. Even the people of Arabhavi had re-elected him for the second time to the Assembly. “But Mr. Jarkiholi betrayed the party and the people. It is an insult to popular mandate,” he said. Mr. Jarkiholi had forced another “byelection” on the people at the cost of the exchequer, he said. LessonHe said that the people could not be taken for granted and hoped that they would teach him a lesson. By joining the Bharatiya Janata Party, Mr. Balachandra Jarkiholi had not only demonstrated his hunger for power, but also proved that he was not trustworthy, he said.
