Scholarship for 7,008 students in the State

HYDERABAD: About 7,008 students from the State studying as regular students in 9th class in government, local body and government-aided schools would get scholarships of Rs. 6,000 a year each.

The National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme, supported by the Ministry of HRD, will be paid from 9th class to 12th class for a maximum period of four years for students whose parental income is not more than Rs.1.50 lakh per year. The eligibility will be decided by an entrance test to be conducted on August 17, according to the Director of Government Examinations, G.V. Subba Rao.

Mr. Rao said that application forms have been sent to all the eligible schools and students can apply before July 14 in the respective schools. Applications will also be available at the DEO offices and the aponline website.

The examination would consist of Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
