Third front necessary in State, says Ajit Singh

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Kerala needs a third front to tackle the problems of the common man, Rashtriya Lok Dal president Ajit Singh, MP, has said.

He was inaugurating a party office at Kadavanthra, in Kochi, on Sunday.

He observed that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF) were coming to power alternatively in the State. Due to this, both the fronts were ignoring the key issues that confronted the common man. Thus, there was immense scope for a party like the Rashtriya Lok Dal which focused on issues pertaining to farmers and other vulnerable sections of society, he said.

Price rise, inflation and unemployment were much more serious issues than the nuclear deal. The controversy over the nuclear pact had become an electoral issue and not an issue that touched the daily lives of people. Whichever party came to power, the nuclear agreement would have to be implemented, Mr. Singh said. Party general secretary M. Eapen Vettath said the central leadership of the party had given a free hand to the State unit to decide on whether to align with any of the rival fronts or stand alone in the next parliamentary elections.
