Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday declared that a Central University in the name of Lord Krishna would be set up over an area of 500 acres in Mahendergarh to provide better educational facilities in the region. Addressing a rally at Mahendragarh organised by local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Dan Singh after laying foundation stones and inaugurating various development projects worth Rs. 35 crore, Mr.Hooda announced that 525 water courses would be lined at a cost of Rs. 150 crore to irrigate 99,383 hectares of land in Jhajjar, Rewari, Gurgaon,Mahendergarh and Bhiwani districts. Mr.Hooda reiterated the various concessions given to the agriculture sector by his regime while assuring the farmers of Mahendergarh that adequate irrigation water would be provided to them.He praised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Sonia Gandhi for the historic decision to waive off loans worth Rs. 71,000 crore which would benefit 4.50 crore farmers of the country. He added that in Haryana, loans amounting to Rs.2,108 crore of 6.24 lakh farmers would be waived off under this scheme. Union Minister of State for Defence Production and local MP Inderjit Singh also addressed the rally. Earlier, Mr.Hooda inaugurated water supply schemes. Meanwhile, inaugurating a 33 KV substation constructed by the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam at village Sehlang, Mr. Hooda said that the State Govt proposed to spend Rs. 200 crore in district Mahendergarh to strengthen the power transmission and distribution system.
