Tankers rushed to Kashmir

JAMMU: As many as 65 oil tankers carrying petrol and diesel were rushed to the Kashmir valley under tight security cover on Sunday after the All Jammu and Kashmir Oil Tankers’ Association (AJKOTA) relaxed its six-day-long boycott against transportation of oil products to the region.

The association had gone on strike after 17 tankers were damaged and drivers assaulted during recent protests held in the valley against land transfer to Sri Amarnathji Shrine Board.

Escorted by the CRPF personnel in presence of divisional commissioner (Jammu zone) Sandhanshu Panday, the tankers carried petrol and diesel of the Indian Oil Corporation and Bharat Petroleum Limited. - PTI
