MADURAI: TVS Higher Secondary School lifted the T.E. Chatlier Trophy defeating TVS Matriculation Higher Secondary School by 14 runs in the final of the district-level inter-school cricket tournament organised by Lakshmi Old Students Association at Madurai on Saturday. The scores (final): TVS HSS 112 for five in 20 overs bt TVS MHSS 98 in 18.4 overs; Semifinals: TVS MHSS 153 for five in 20 overs (Prasanna Venkatesh 52) bt MM MHSS 103 for eight in 20 overs (Venkatesh three for eight); TVS HSS 156 for seven (Rajalingam 66) bt Lechatelier MHSS 102 in 20 overs (Sathya 24, Muthumurugan three for 20). Meanwhile, St. Britto Higher Secondary School won the basketball final defeating St. Mary’s HSS 64-57. The results (final): St. Britto HSS 64 (Maruthu Pandhian 25, Andrew David 18) bt St. Mary’s HSS 57 (Muthu Pandian 20, Sikkander 16). In the volleyball tournament, TVS HSS, Virudhunagar Hindu Nadar HSS, Mangayarkarasi HSS and St. Britto HSS entered the semifinals.
