NEW DELHI: The three-day mango festival organised by Delhi Tourism in partnership with India Trade Promotion Organisation and supported by the Delhi Government and the National Horticulture Board concluded at Pragati Maidan here on Sunday. The 20th Mango Festival offered a varied fare with a large display of over 500-odd varieties of mangoes and mango products. According to the organisers, the wide variety of mangoes and their names evoked a tremendous response from the people. From “Julywala gola”, “raat rani”, “zubeida”, “safed mirch” to “mohan bhog”, there were many mangoes whose names captured the imagination of the public. Prominent mango growers from Lucknow, Ludhiana ,Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Saharanpur and Meerut participated in this festival. Mango-eating contestThe concluding day of the festival featured a magic show, a mango-eating competition for men, a mango quiz and a slogan writing competition. M.S. Akbar won the English slogan contest, while Paridhi Aggarwal won the top honours in the Hindi slogan contest. In the men’s mango eating competition, Shivli Khan won the first prize by eating 1.472 kg of mango pulp.
