NEW DELHI: Kashmiri Pandits on Sunday staged a protest here against the Jammu and Kashmir government’s decision to revoke the land transfer to the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board. Carrying placards and raising slogans, the protesters forced their way into the 12 Akbar Road residence of Water Resources Minister Saifuddin Soz and broke flowerpots and windowpanes. The police arrived and detained over 50 protesters, including some women. Mr. Soz was away in Kashmir. Earlier, the protesters, who gathered at Jantar Mantar, suddenly decided to reach the Minister’s house. “They arrived in vehicles and stormed the Minister’s house taking everyone by surprise,” said a security man. They also set afire some banners and posters on the road. The protesters alleged that the police and security staff did not allow them to hand over a memorandum. National Peace Union president Subodh Mukku and All Kashmir United Front president Raja Bhan condemned the “vandalism” at the Minister’s residence.
