AGAINST COMMUNALISATION: Members of the Kashmiri Hindu Samiti staging a protest in Bangalore on Sunday. Bangalore: Members of the Kashmiri Hindu Samiti (Karnataka) staged a protest here on Sunday against the cancellation of the allotment order of 100 acres of forest land to the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) by the Jammu and Kashmir Government. Nearly 300 members belonging to the Kashmiri Pandit community staged a peaceful demonstration in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue against the revocation of the order. R.K. Mattoo, president of the samiti, said that the recent events had shattered the confidence of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits and Hindus world over. He maintained that the cancellation of the allotment order was the “biggest national blunder” committed by the Congress, and that the State and Union Governments had surrendered before the communalist and separatist forces. “The leaders should realise that the secular tradition and identity is our nation’s real strength, which we cannot afford to weaken,” he said. The samiti has sent a memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Governor of Jammu and Kashmir N.N. Vohra, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Gulam Nabi Azad, Governor of Karnataka Rameshwar Thakur and Chief Minister of Karnataka B.S. Yeddyurappa.
