New Hindi channel ‘Colors’ to bring dramas, shows, films and more

Bollwood star Akshay Kumar will host the reality show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’.

NEW DELHI: Showcasing a diverse line-up of shows covering every strand of human emotion will be the brand new Hindi entertainment channel “Colors” that is all set to be launched on July 21.

The channel will air fiction-based social family dramas, reality shows, latest films from the dream factories of Bollywood and a special tongue-in-cheek chat show.

“Khatron Ke Khiladi” will have Bollywood’s most sought after star Akshay Kumar as the demanding host. Thirteen glamorous actors and models will compete with one another as the show takes the game to high levels of physical and mental challenge.

The Bollywood brigade represented by Sonali Kulkarni, Dipannita Sharma, Meghna Naidu, Vidya Malvade, Aditi Govtrikar, Pooja Bedi and Tapur Chatterjee will participate in derring-do activities in the exotic locales of South Africa.

“Unlike a reality show, this show has no behind-the-scenes intrigues but a straightforward contest. All we had to do was strengthen our minds and perform the stunts. Akshay is not just a seasoned actor but also a perfectionist when it comes to performing stunts. He was extremely supportive and once reprimanded me when I didn’t do my job well,” says Dipannita.

Stating that shooting at Johannesburg was an adventurous and thrilling experience, Meghna says the show gave her a chance to laugh, cry and enjoy herself in breathtaking locals of the African country. “Akshay has a comic timing and encouraged every participant. I had been keenly watching the international show ‘Fear Factor’ and was eagerly waiting to do something on those lines. So when I got a chance I gave a nod to the show,” adds the vivacious actor.

In “Sajid’s Superstars”, master of buffoonery and director of “Heyy Baby” Sajid Khan will invite not just Bollywood personalities but also his “friends”. “You see, actors are not dumb people. They are intelligent as well as sensitive. So my job is to make stars comfortable. They are not going to come to my show because they are getting paid for it but because they are friends.”

The show will feature Vidya Balan, Shahid Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar who will be at their candid best as they will speak about everything under the sun.

To keep couch potatoes hooked on to their television sets, the channel has also announced acquisition of Hindi movies like “Singh Is King”, “Bhoothnath”, “Heyy Baby”, “Om Shanti Om”, “One Two Three” and “Dus Kahaniya”.

Other serials will include one on Krishna’s childhood glory, social evil of child marriage, a romantic tale of love that triumphs against insurmountable odds and a patriotic period drama.
