Participants at the ‘Mom, let’s walk the ramp’ event in Chennai on Sunday. CHENNAI: It was homemaker Sudharani’s first time on the ramp and she was really thrilled about it. “When we registered for the event I thought it was an event only for children. But later when they called me over to the ramp it came as a pleasant surprise.” Ms.Sudharani and her daughter, Lakshmi Josya, walked the ramp at the ‘Mom, let’s walk the ramp’ event organised as part of the ‘Come on Kidz – Sirar Sangamam’ that concluded on Sunday. The four-day event organised by Tamil Maiyam, Eventspro Skykomm along with the Department of Education, came to a close with Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu interacting with the participants and posing for photos with children. Irene and Yashua said an exhibition that was organised as part of the event, offered plenty of things for the all round development of children. C. Santhosh and his mother Lakshmi, who took part in the fashion show, said they enjoyed sharing the spotlight. Tamil Maiyam founder Father Jegath Gaspar Raj said unlike the Chennai Sangamam, most visitors were only those from middle and upper middle class. Next year, they would take steps to integrate all strata of people. Alamelu Suresh of Eventspro Skykomm said next year the pre-event process would be started in January itself so as to bring in more talents.
