NAMAKKAL: State Highways and various other important roads in the district will be improved at an estimated cost of Rs. 27.10 crore in the current fiscal, Collector U. Sagayam has said. AllocationThe government has allotted Rs. 3.83 crore for four-laning of Namakkal Muthalaipatti-Selambagounder Road, Rs. 1.51 crore for two-laning of 6.84 stretch connecting Omalur, Sankagiri, Tiruchengode and Paramathi, and Rs. 1.80 crore for improving the Mohanur-Namakkal-Senthamangalam-Rasipuram stretch. A sum of Rs. 1 crore has been allotted for the re-construction of a bridge in Mangalapuram. He said that the government has earmarked Rs. 1.60 crore for re-construction of a bridge near Arapaleeshwarar Temple in Kolli Hills, which was a long pending demand of people in the hills. A sum of Rs. 3.80 crore was allotted for widening a 16 km stretch connecting Cholakkadu, Semmedu, Vilaram and Arapaleeshwarar temple. A sum of Rs. 60 lakh was allotted for improving the Tiruchengode - Ariyanur Road. A sum of Rs. 67 lakh would be spent for widening Kalichettipatti Road. Another Rs. 2.68 crore was set aside for improving small bridges, construction of storm water drains and building of parapet walls at various parts in the district. Kolli HillsThe government allotted Rs. 2.40 crore for improving Mohanur-Oruvanthur Road. A total of Rs. 60 lakh was allotted for two-laning of Kuzhivalavu-Othakkadai Road in Kolli Hills, the Collector has said.
