VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Virudhunagar district administration has planned to provide employment-oriented training to 500 youths in the current fiscal. Reviewing the functioning of Mahalir Thittam here on Monday, the Collector, V. The six-month training programme would be in auto-mechanic, electrical mechanic, motor rewinding, plumbing office administrative training and hospital administration. Leading industries like TVS and L&T would provide the training for which the candidates would be given free food and accommodation. The Government would be spending Rs. 10,000 on each individual. The Collector urged the panchayat presidents to create awareness of the programme among the youth and identify eligible candidates. Interested candidates can contact the Project Officer (Mahalir Thittam) at 04562 – 252036. A beauty parlour to be run by two self-help groups for women would be inaugurated at Aruppukottai on August 2.
