Pension for physically challenged to be hiked

Steps on to hold mega health camps

Kakinada: The pensions for physically challenged will be hiked to Rs 750 from October 1 and steps are being taken to provide medical services to them at mega health camps in every Assembly constituency, in addition to distributing railway/ bus passes and disability certificates as per requirement, according to district Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi here on Monday.

Certificates to be issued

Mr. Dwivedi said in a press release that permanent caste certificates would be issued to SC, ST and BC students with financial assistance of Zilla Parishad, which has also contributed Rs 5 lakh for organising medical camps for the physically challenged.

Special counters

Special counters would be set up at the venues of medical camps to extend benefits under various welfare schemes, to not only the physically challenged but also other weaker sections., he said

The services of specialty doctors are requisitioned to provide treatment for various diseases, in the medical camps that were hitherto held at places like Kakinada and Rajahmundry.

The cooperation of all the government departments concerned was sought for successful conduct of the camps and to extend necessary help to the needy in general.
