CUTTACK: In yet another broad daylight robbery in Cuttack city, anti-social elements decamped with Rs. 3.60 lakh from two garment shop workers in front of a private bank located at Bajrkabati Road on Monday afternoon. Although, the local police have not yet received a formal complaint from the victims till the evening, the police have rounded up five suspects in this connection. According to the police, two workers of ‘Rajhansa’ a famous garment shop of the locality had gone to the HDFC bank to deposit the sale proceeds of the day when three persons following them on a motorcycle accosted the workers in front of the bank around 1 p.m. “Brandishing revolvers, the robbers snatched the bag containing the cash from one J. Chandi Rao after a brief scuffle. Rao has sustained head injuries while his accomplish Mahendra Sharma has escaped unhurt,” said the Mangalabag police station inspector P.K. Jena. Police have rounded up at least five suspects but the victims are unable to identify the accused from them. Quoting eyewitnesses, police said the robbers had probably used toy revolvers to create panic among the victims and the public. It was further learnt that the lone armed guard of the bank who was on duty right on the spot at the time of the incident made a safe retreat inside the bank seeing the scuffle outside.
