Rs. 82.59- crore action plan

Belgaum: The Belgaum Zilla Panchayat has prepared an Rs. 82.59-crore action plan for planned programmes for the financial year 2008-09. The plan includes proposals on development programmes worth Rs. 66.14 crore under State sector and Rs. 14.45 crore under central sector.

The plan came up for consideration at the general body meeting of the zilla panchayat presided over by its president Nazir Ahmed Nadaf here on Monday.

Under the plan, the zilla panchayat proposes to spend Rs. 34 crore on education, Rs.13.24 crore on family welfare, Rs. 6.53 crore on medicines and public health, Rs. 6.7 crore on women and child development, Rs. 4.79 crore on SC/ST development and Rs. 4.28 crore on roads and bridges.

The zilla panchayat will finalise the action plan and send it to the government for approval.

Mr. Nadaf advised the officials to expedite the ongoing development works and expected active cooperation from all the panchayat members.
