CHANDIGARH: The Haryana police fired in the air on Sunday night to disperse angry villagers who resorted to violence near Kala Amb to register their protest against power shortage and continuous load-shedding. According to reports reaching the State headquarters here, the protesters gheraoed the electricity complaint centre and some of them even hurled stones at the nearby police post. Even as the police were trying to disperse the mob, one person is alleged to have hurled burning tyres at the police post which partially damaged the building and some wooden furniture. Three policemen were injured. The demonstrators also went about damaging police and private vehicles. The police then fired three rounds in the air to disperse the mob.
