NAGAPATTINAM: An 18-inch-high bronze idol of a deity, said to be of Lord Siva, was unearthed by a farmer while he was digging a pit in his garden at Velipalayam in Nagapattinam district on Sunday. The Tahsildar of Tarangampadi took possession of the idol, which weighed 8 kg.
Our Karur Staff Reporter reports: Sand miners at the Kattalai sand quarry on the banks of the Cauvery unearthed a metal statue of Lord Siva on Monday. The miners were quarrying sand with the help of an excavator when the machinery hit the 1.5-foot-high idol. They handed over the statue to Krishnarayapuram Tahsildar Sampoornam.
