Proceedings in defamation complaint against Kushboo stayed

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday stayed all further proceedings pending before a trial court in Chengalpattu in respect of a defamation complaint against Tamil actor Kushboo for her alleged remarks on pre-marital sex.

This is one of the 23 complaints filed against the actor in various places across Tamil Nadu.

While refusing to quash the proceedings, the Madras High Court, by a judgment dated April 30, directed the Chief Metropolitan magistrate, Egmore, to conduct a joint trial of the 23 complaints and to dispose of the matter in six months.
