Declares open school buildings at Keeranur

PUDUKOTTAI: The State Government has accorded top priority for implementing various programmes for the overall development of education scenario in the State, the Union Minister of State for Environment and Forest, S. Regupathi has said.

Provision of bicycles, free bus passes, free uniforms were all aimed at motivating the students to pursue education vigorously.

The student community should take full advantage of the same, Mr. Regupathi said while speaking at a function to declare open new buildings constructed on an outlay of Rs.59 lakh with the funds provided by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Keeranur near here on Monday.

The Minister assured financial assistance from his MP Local Area Development Fund for the construction of additional class room buildings and also steps for setting up a cycle shed.

The buildings declared open included 15 class rooms and a laboratory.

Collector Reeta Harish Thakkar in her presidential address urged the parents to admit all their children in schools without fail. The teachers should also encourage and motivate the students to pursue higher education.

District Panchayat Chairman C. Muthusamy, Chairman of the Kundrandarkoil Panchayat Union K. R. N. Bose, Chief Educational Officer S. Sellam and others spoke.
