Seeking blessings: President Pratibha Patil offering prayers at the Dhwajasthambam in Sri Venkateswara temple complex at Tirumala on Monday. TIRUMALA: President Pratibha Patil offered prayers at the Hill temple of Lord Venkateswara in the wee of hours of Monday along with her husband Devisingh Shekawat and other family members. Coincidentally, Monday was their wedding anniversary and the president couple participated in Sahasranama Archana seva of the Lord. Soon after darshan, the President formally launched TTD’s ‘Sri Venkateswara Bhakthi’ channel at a brief function. After a brief stay at the guest house, the Presidential entourage motored down to Tirupati where Ms. Patil inaugurated TTDs platinum jubilee celebrations (Amruthotsavalu). Earlier, on arrival, the President was received with the traditional temple honours and escorted to the inner sanctum where she sat for half-an-hour witnessing the archana being performed to the Lord. Temple priests showered Vedasirvachanams on the first couple and their family members at the Ranganayakula mandapam while Mr. Reddy presented her with a ‘Gold dollar’ of the Lord along and prasadam.
