Peddi Reddy vows to strengthen Telangana movement

Staff Reporter

KARIMNAGAR: Former TDP leader E. Peddi Reddy said that along with other workers from the Telangana cause, he would work to strengthen the statehood movement from the grass-root level by constituting mandal-level committees in the region.

Mr. Reddy, who resigned from the TDP along with another leader T. Devender Goud, made his maiden visit to the district on Monday. He was accorded a rousing reception from the district borders of Shanigaram to Karimnagar town. His supporters and Telangana leaders took out a massive rally welcoming him to the district. Participating in the “Telangana Sadhana Sanghibhava sadassu” convened in Karimnagar town to garner support for the Telangana statehood movement, Mr. Reddy said that they would accord priority for the strengthening of the Telangana movement by highlighting the neglect of the region on all fronts. “We will teach a fitting lesson to the parties that have said that the Telangana sentiment is fading out in the region,” he stated.

He said that about 80 per cent of people from the Andhra region were ready for dividing the State into two. But, some investors and others who are selling lands in Hyderabad were obstructing the formation of the Telangana state, he alleged. He said that the people in the Telangana region were treated as second-grade citizens.
