Olympic badminton draw advanced
BANGALORE: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced on Monday that the draw date for the Beijing Olympic Games badminton competition has been advanced to July 26 to ensure better television broadcast scheduling by rights holders interested in badminton on day one of the Games competition.
Previously the draw had been slated for August 4, just five days before the start of competition.
To date, players from 50 countries have qualified to compete at the Olympic Games competition and this is a significant increase in the number of nations competed in Athens 2004, where 33 nations represented. — Special Correspondent
