Thiruvananthapuram: Traders in the city will down shutters and participate in a march to the Assembly on July 10 in response to a call by the Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi (KVVES) for a State-wide protest against the entry of monopolies into the retail sector. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, KVVES State secretariat member Peringamala Ramachandran, general secretary Alex M.Chacko, district secretary M.M. Safar and other leaders said the Assembly march was being organised to exert pressure on the government to enact legislation to control monopoly retail chains. They expressed concern over the mushrooming growth of retail giants in Kerala despite political opposition and the denial of trade licence.
