Reveal ‘midnight deal’, says BJP

Special Correspondent

LUCKNOW: Bharatiya Janata Party vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Monday that the country should be told by the UPA Government what issues were settled in the “deal at midnight” with the Samajwadi Party.

Mr. Naqvi said there was more to it than what meets the eye considering that the Samajwadi Party which was the first party to oppose the nuclear deal with the United States had made a sudden turnaround now on the issue. The BJP leader said the people should be told what documents were finalised in the midnight deal relating to the cases with the CBI and whether a decision was taken to guard the interests of Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Ambani.

Asserting that the Congress-Samajwadi deal had been brokered to save the UPA Government, Mr. Naqvi said the Government was in a minority notwithstanding the SP’s assurance of support. He demanded that the UPA Government prove its majority in the Lok Sabha.
