Communicated through audio, visual media ’This form of education is more effective’ A special event was organised in the Capital this past week to give children from marginalised communities a chance to explore and comment on their world through video, multimedia, digital art, web, animation and audio. “Adobe Youth Voices” saw young participants from the city sharing their experience of communicating through the powerful audio and visual media. During the event, documentaries produced by participants from across the country addressing various socio-economic, environment and other community issues were screened. Describing the “Adobe Youth Voices” programme as an excellent idea as it provided technical expertise to children without which the present educational system was incomplete, former Indian Police Service officer Kiran Bedi, who was the chief guest here, said the ability where all five senses of a human being were employed enhanced the creativity of a person to act in the right manner. “For children this form of education will be more effective in the present competitive scenario. Through such activities, children imbibe the technical skills which further reflects in their documentaries, digital arts and web animations,” she added. The Adobe Youth Voices programme has successfully completed two years of its existence worldwide, reaching out to 75 school sites in six locations around the world. Since 2006 the Indian chapter has partnered with American India Foundation to take this programme to 25 schools in Noida and Bangalore. Staff Reporter
