GRIEVANCE: Residents who submitted a petition to Deputy Mayor K. Muthuramalingam on Tuesday. TIRUNELVELI: A group of residents from Thatchanallur Zone of the corporation submitted a petition to Deputy Mayor K. Muthuramalingam on Tuesday demanding the local body to reduce the monthly water tax of Rs. 120. The petitioners from wards 1, 2, 3, 4 and 55 said extension areas such as Balaji Avenue, Balabhagya Nagar, Ram Nagar, Selva Vignesh Nagar and Good Shepherd Nagar were getting drinking water for about 90 minutes every day from the recently launched Thatchanallur Drinking Water Scheme. “While the residents of Tirunelveli Junction and Tirunelveli Town areas, who get drinking water twice a day, are paying only Rs. 50 a month as water tax, beneficiaries of Thatchanallur Drinking Water Scheme are being forced to pay Rs. 120 a month, which cannot be justified by any means.
