Homeo, ayurvedic students step up stir

Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR: Post-graduate doctors and students of seven homeopathic and ayurvedic colleges in the State on Tuesday locked up their administrative and academic halls demanding stipend on par with their counterparts in other medical colleges.

Neither administrative staff nor faculties were allowed to enter the premises of these medical colleges in the morning as the students intensified their five month-long-agitation.

According to All Orissa Homoeopathic Students’ Association (AOHSA), PG doctors were assured hike in the stipend on the lines of allopathic PG doctors and house surgeons.

“Additional secretary of Health Department had given a strong assurance about to increase in the stipend. But sadly even after four months no significant steps were taken in this regard,” Sovan Kumar Sethy, general secretary of AOHSA, said.
