Award for civic body

BERHAMPUR: The Berhampur municipality was recently declared the best municipality in the whole country in the field of adopting and implementing ‘Citizen Facilitation Centre’ by the Central government and UNDP.

According to its Chairperson Sulochana Swain, the municipality was also honoured for its proper implementation of reforms suggested by the UNDP. The ‘Citizen Facilitation Centre’ for which the municipality was awarded happens to be a single window facility for the citizens of the city to provide them all kinds of assistance as well as a point for collection of dues.

But the common citizens of the city feel the municipality should not get over-enthused by these honours as the municipality has much to do.
