Constable shot dead in Bihar

Chapra: A police constable was shot dead by an under trial prisoner in court premises here on Tuesday.

Constable Bahauddin Ansari (48) was shot dead by under trial Ranvijay Singh, whom he had brought to Saran district court for routine production, DIG (Saran range) Jaglal Chaudhary said.

Singh, who was in jail in connection with a SBI bank robbery at Anjani village in Parsa block of Saran district in January 2006, met some acquaintances at the court who surreptitiously passed on to him a pistol, Chaudhary said.
