Narrow escape for boat passengers

Rourkela: At least 25 people ferrying in a country boat had a narrow escape in the flooded river Brahmani at Jangla Ghat near Bonai, 75 km from here, as the boatman skilfully fought the torrid currents and took the vessel to safety, police said on Tuesday.

The boat with 25 persons was crossing the river when it lost control midstream due to strong currents in the flooded river on Monday. –PTI
