PUDUCHERRY: Secretary of the Puducherry unit of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) A. Anbalagan on Tuesday urged the government to withdraw permission granted to private medical colleges, if they failed to earmark 50 per cent of seats to the government quota. He told reporters here that the private medical colleges, while seeking no-objection-certificate from the government, had given an undertaking that 50 per cent of seats would be allotted to government quota. But they had started violating their promise. Mr. Anbalagan flayed the managements of three deemed universities for not deputing their representatives to the meeting convened by the government on Monday to discuss the issue. The government also failed to take action against the private medical colleges which did not have sufficient infrastructure, though the Chief Minister and the Health Minister had promised to form a panel to go into the issue, Mr. Anbalagan said.
