Gurupurnima celebrations on July 18

PATHANAMTHITTA: Sree Ramakrishna Ashram at Thukalasserry, near Thiruvalla, will celebrate gurupurnima (Vyasa Jayanti) on July 18, according to ashram president Swami Samagrananda.

A Srimad Bhagavatha Saptaha Yajnom will also be held at the ashram temple prior to the celebrations.

Renowned Bhagavathom exponents, Seeravally Kesavan Namboodiri, Kalloor K. Krishnan Namboodiri, C.E. Shambhu Namboodiri and M. Naryanan Bhattathiri will lead the saptaha yajnom to be held from July 11 to 17, Swami Samagrananda said.

The gurupurnima celebrations will begin with the sacred ‘mangala aarati’ at 5.30 a.m.

It will come to a close with a bhajan and aarati followed by the recital of the gospel of Sree Ramakrishna, by 11.30 a.m., he said.
