CHANDIGARH: About 21.26 lakh eligible children in 12 districts of Haryana were administered polio drops during the first two days of the Sub-National Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (SNID) round of 2008-09, an official spokesman said here on Tuesday. He disclosed that on the first day, Sunday, 15.68 lakh eligible children were administered polio drops and on Monday, 5.58 lakh. TargetThis was 82 per cent of the target of covering 26 lakh children in three consecutive days, he added. The districts covered are Ambala, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Jhajjar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Mewat, Panchkula, Panipat, Rohtak, Sonepat and Yamunanagar. The spokesman reiterated that there had been only one polio case in the State in Mewat during the first six months of 2008. This case was reported in January this year and no case has been reported thereafter. All-out efforts to eradicate polioHe asserted that Haryana was making all-out efforts to eradicate polio and sought active participation of the people and all other stake holders in this mission.
