Kozhikode
Kozhikode: The Malabar Chamber of Commerce and Malabar Train Action Committee have decided to launch an agitation against “the neglect” towards Vellayil railway station in the city. In a letter to the Railway Divisional Manager, Chamber president P. Zakeer and Committee chairman P.V. Gangadharan demanded immediate steps to solve the problems of the station. They cited the instance when passengers could not be issued tickets recently. The station’s platform did not even have a roof. The roof which was dismantled during the rail doubling works has not yet been restored. Also, there is no comfort station or drinking water facility for passengers. The premises has been covered with shrubbery of late. The station, thus, was unusable, they said.
