DMK functionary’s car torched
Staff Reporter
ARIYALUR: A car belonging to a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) functionary was set on fire by unidentified persons at Sendurai in the district early on Tuesday.
Police sources said Selvaraj, Sendurai Union DMK president, heard a noise and rushed out of his house, to find the vehicle completely burnt.
The miscreants also damaged a two-wheeler parked outside.
The Sendurai police have registered a case on a complaint lodged by Mr. Selvaraj.
On hearing the news, a section of DMK members indulged in picketing for some time near the Sendurai bus stand demanding the arrest of those responsible. They gave up their protest following an assurance by the police to bring the culprits to book.
