VKRV birth centenary celebrated
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The National Cultural Organisation celebrated the birth centenary of its patron, Dr. V.K.R.V. Rao, here on Monday. Several speakers paid rich tributes to the former Union Minister who was a distinguished economist and educationist. NCO chairman N.P. Seshadri described Dr. Rao as a man of great integrity and a connoisseur of music. He said Dr. Rao had founded three landmark institutions – the Delhi School of Economics, the Institute of Economic Growth, and the Institute of Social and Economic Change in Bangalore.
Sitar maestro Debu Chaudhri recalled Dr. Rao as a lover of arts who promoted the music department of Delhi University where Debu Chaudhri served as dean of music. The NCO will organise a weeklong festival in December to commemorate his memory
