KOCHI: About 7,000 workers belonging to over 20 textile spinning mills in the State will join the all-India stir of textile workers on July 9. The workers will ‘stop work’ on the day to highlight the crisis faced by spinning mills. The workers are demanding that the government suspend the export of cotton till December 31 this year. Addressing a press conference here, P. Nandakumar, Chairman of Kerala State Textile Corporation, said the workers belonging to Confederation of Indian Textile Industry and Southern India Mills Association would strike work. He said the crisis had arisen out of the shortage of cotton though production had increased within the country.
