Shimla: Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Tuesday said that the State Government would honour Himachal-born Brigadier R. D. Mehta and ITBP soldier Roop Singh, who died in the bomb blast outside Indian embassy in Kabul. The Government would honour the two brave defence personnel who hailed from the hill State, Mr. Dhumal said. He said the Government had great respect for defence personnel and had always worked for their welfare. India’s Defence attache Brig. Mehta was born in Kelyston estate, Bhrari, in Shimla. His father Shiv Dutt Mehta is a retired Himachal Administrative Service officer. Roop Singh of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) hailed from Dhaban village of Mandi district. Singh’s body was brought to his village and cremated in the afternoon. His son lit the funeral pyre. He is survived by a son who studies in VIIIth standard, a daughter who is in VIth standard and wife Neera Devi (33). PTI
