Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh leaves after appearing before a special committee of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha probing the Amritsar Improvement Trust land scandal in Chandigarh on Tuesday. Chandigarh: As infighting continues to plaguethe Punjab Congress, former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday hinted at his elevation in party’s organisational set up in the State. “The Congress High Command is moving ahead (making changes like appointing new PCC chiefs and constituting committees),” he told mediapersons here in reply to a pointed question. He was asked whether the party High Command would clip wings of his bete noire Rajinder Kaur Bhattal who is holding dual posts of PCC chief and CLP leader for a long time. “I have been the Punjab Congress chief and the Chief Minister. The High Command is fully aware about this,” Capt. Singh said. “I am prepared to play any role assigned to me by the High Command,” he said referring to appointment of Himachal Congress chief and constitution of several committees by the Central leadership on Monday. Asked what would happen if he would be made in-charge of another State, he said: “I belong to this State (Punjab) only.” “I will like to be an active party worker here,” he said adding “the High Command is wise enough to give appropriate post to an individual as per his potential.” He exuded confidence about Punjab getting a new PCC chief within two to three days.
