Golf club case: order on official’s plea reserved

Kochi: The Kerala High Court, on Tuesday, reserved its order on a review petition filed by Nivedita P. Haran, Principal Secretary, Revenue, and an affidavit from her tendering apology for causing embarrassment to the Advocate-General and inconvenience to the court in the Trivandrum Golf club takeover case. Justice S. Siri Jagan reserved the order. The review petition sought to dispense with her personal appearance. The court had temporarily dispensed with it, but ordered her appearance in person again, as it said that she had ignored the instructions of the Advocate-General to keep in abeyance the takeover proceedings.

A Bench, comprising Justices K. Balakrishnan Nair and M.C. Harirani, directed the Kozhikode and Kochi City Police Commissioners and the Superintendents of police of Kottayam and Kollam to provide adequate protection for the smooth conduct of the July 13 entrance test for admission to self-financing nursing colleges, provided it is held under the Admission Supervisory committee for the professional colleges.

Justice R. Basant ordered an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the theft case filed against Udayakumar who died in custody in Fort police station in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27, 2005. He was taken into custody on the charge of theft on that day.
