Mobile phones banned in schools

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Students up to the higher secondary-level would be banned from bringing mobile phones to schools, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said in the Assembly on Tuesday. Replying to a submission from N. Jayaraj, he said complaints about the misuse of mobile phones were on the rise in the State. The police had 14 such cases in their records at the moment. Mobile phones were being used by several people to harass others by taking pictures without consent or sending pornographic pictures unsolicited, he said. — Special Correspondent
